About Us

Learning Tree Montessori School, founded in 2002, is located in  Adyar, Chennai with a branch in Neelankarai, Chennai. Over the years Learning Tree has established itself as one of the premier Montessori schools in the city for pre-primary education (kindergarten), and an exclusive school for primary education (Class 1 and above). It is classified under the category of K-12 schools.

Learning Tree uses the Montessori method to help each child spontaneously reach his or her full potential - intellectually, socially, and emotionally. Teaching values at Learning Tree are aimed towards imparting qualities of self-confidence, poise, a spirit of sharing, and exemplary social behavior. The curriculum supports meaningful, exponential development of reading and writing skills, math, and a keen, scientific awareness of the world around us. Such cognitive and affective inputs from the school bring about a holistic development of the child's personality at an early age that is an invaluable investment for his/her future. The exposure to the Montessori system of education gives the children many advantages over traditional nursery, kindergarten, play school, and preschool teaching methods.

Spacious classrooms, clean surroundings, and an outdoor play area combine to give the children a rich working environment. The swings, slides, see-saw, jungle gym, sand pit, etc under lush trees  are a constant delight to the children and present a picture of complete harmony with Nature. The sports ground in Neelankarai allows children to experience outdoor sports during school hours.

Learning Tree is an inclusive school and welcomes challenged children. These children blossom and progress in the nurturing environment of the school and form an integral part of the Learning Tree community. Some of them have gained enough confidence  to join mainstream schools.

The Montessori Section is located in the main Adyar Branch and admits children of ages 2 to 5 (equivalent of pre-kg to UKG).

The Senior Section (Classes 1 to 5), which follows the CBSE and ICSE syllabus for Primary Schools, is located in Neelankarai.

Learning Tree is the preferred school for children living in localities in South Chennai, catering to the areas of Adyar, Shastri Nagar, Indira Nagar, Besant Nagar, Gandhinagar, Kasturba Nagar, RA Puram and Kotturpuram, and ECR/OMR localities of Tiruvanmiyur, Kottivakkam, Palavakkam, Neelankarai, Injambakkam and Perungudi. Van services are available to these areas. Children in these localities have a genuine Montessori alternative to conventional nursery schools, kindergarten schools and play schools. They also have the opportunity of an exclusive primary education in a compassionate and friendly setting with medium sized class strengths, influenced by Montessori inspired teaching styles.

Over the years Learning Tree has been consistently ranked as among the top pre-schools in Chennai. In the school rankings released by Education World in December 2019, Learning Tree has maintained its ranking as Chennai's 4th best preschool for the third time in a row.
